The Real Deal: Public Defense & Criminal Justice Reform
In this first part of a four-part "Real Deal" series for 1Ls and beyond, the Public Service Center will bring four distinguished attorneys to talk about their practices, how people get into their field, and answer questions in a fast-paced, panel format. Agencies represented: ACLU of Virginia, Alexandria Public Defender, Baltimore Public Defender (Youthful Defendant Unit), and Washington Lawyers' Committee for Civil Rights and Urban Affairs (DC Prisoners' Project). General Interest Meeting for the Virginia Animal Law Society
This is a general interest meeting for those who want to learn about the Animal Law Program, funded by the Bob Barker fund, here at UVA Law. Our faculty adviser, Professor Margaret Riley, will speak about her fall Animal Law class, and board members of VALS will talk about animal law internship programs, the fundraisers VALS has in mind for the year, this year's symposium on the humanity of kill shelters, and finally gauge interest in volunteering at the Charlottesville-Albemarle SPCA.
