Fall OGI Advice Panel & Networking Reception
Virginia Law and Business Society will host a two-part event to help students prepare for OGI. The first part will be a student panel to give general advice about the OGI process. The second potion will be a networking event where students can receive market-specific tips from 2Ls and 3Ls. The panel will take place in WB152 starting at 6:15 p.m. and the networking portion will be hosted in the Purcell Reading Room beginning at 6:45 p.m. Student representatives who are working for firms in D.C., New York City, Philadelphia, Northern Virginia, Atlanta, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston, Delaware and Texas will be in attendance. Food, beer and wine will be provided. This is a VLBS members-only event. Membership for the remainder of the semester is $5. You may still join VLBS by placing a check or cash in Amanda Granger's mailbox or by bringing $5 the day of the event.

Virginia Loan Forgiveness Program Information Session
All students are invited to attend an information session on the Virginia Loan Forgiveness Program (VLFP.) The University of Virginia School of Law established the original VLFP to assist law school graduates entering public service legal employment with their law school educational loan obligations. In April 2010, VLFP II was introduced with program updates. This information session will review VLFP II and answer your questions about loan repayment while working in public service employment. The Federal Public Service Loan Forgiveness program will also be discussed.

The Life of the Law: A Symposium Commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the Civil Rights Act of 1964
This symposium will commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Civil Rights Act with an exploration of the act’s origins, impact and significance within several broad contexts, including the social movements and public policy transformations that the act symbolized, promoted and institutionalized. The conference begins at 9 a.m. at the Miller Center, and then moves to the Law School with panel discussion, titled "Title VII and the Promise of Equal Employment," starting at 1:30 p.m.
